About Hounds & Hops
Hounds & Hops was born out of a shared passion for dogs, community, and entrepreneurship. Co-founders Bob Manley and Jarod Miller, both native Buffalonians, combined their expertise and love for dogs to create a unique destination in Western New York. Bob brings years of experience in growing start-ups and, alongside his wife Heather, is active in the dog rescue community. Jarod, an animal behaviorist, television host, and entrepreneur, brings his extensive experience in zoology, media production, and animal care to the venture. Their vision for Hounds & Hops began with a desire to offer something special for Buffalo’s vibrant, dog-loving community. Drawing inspiration from both the canine care and craft beer industries, they developed a concept that blends play, care, and socialization for both humans and their four-legged companions.

Buffalo is a community known for its love of dogs, craft beer, and camaraderie. Hounds & Hops combines these elements into a one-of-a-kind social experience. The facility offers a full range of canine care services—from grooming and daycare to training and boarding—alongside a welcoming, friendly environment for dog owners. With a playful and structured approach, Hounds & Hops aims to enhance the bond between responsible dog owners and their pets while fostering a sense of community within the heart of downtown Buffalo.
Meet The Founders
Jarod Miller
Jarod is an animal behaviorist, television host, producer, and entrepreneur. A Western New York native, he has followed his passion for animals around the world and is excited to bring his experience and expertise back to his hometown through the creation of Hounds & Hops. Among the many national television productions for which Jarod is credited, Animal Planet’s Petfinder and CBS’s Greatest American Dog are held in the highest regard for promoting dog adoption and strengthening the bond between people and their companion animals. Jarod holds degrees in zoology, business administration, and broadcast communications from Oswego State University.
Bob Manley
Bob is an entrepreneur who has founded multiple companies in the financial services and logistics industries. Active in Buffalo’s startup community, Bob is the President of R.P. Manley & Co. He brings extensive experience with fundraising, strategic planning, systems implementation, process improvement, recruiting, and team building. Bob earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and a BBA in Accounting from Stetson University.
Bob and his wife Heather have volunteered for the SPCA Serving Erie County and participated in dog rescue and adoption. Their two dogs, Rusty and Buster, are both rescued through Buffalo Pug and Small Breed and the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter.
What to Expect
Hounds & Hops launched our full-service grooming salon complete with a selection of craft beer and wine seating areas at the iconic Seneca One Tower in the heart of downtown Buffalo in October of 2023. The Hounds & Hops experience provides a blend of convenience and enjoyment for pet owners and their dogs. The grooming salon is designed as a canine facility that caters to the needs of our most important clients—your furry best friends—alongside a warm and welcoming bar area where owners can relax and enjoy fun beverages.
As we grow, we plan to provide dog daycare services, an indoor dog park, and a craft beer hospitality area. Located in the east front plaza of Seneca One, this space will serve as Buffalo’s premier destination for canine and craft beer enthusiasts. Evening open playtime for dogs, daycare services, cold beer, wine, and delicious food are just the beginning. This development is key to fostering new friendships among pet owners and strengthening our sense of community.
The ultimate goal of Hounds & Hops is to feature one of the largest indoor and outdoor canine social spaces in the United States, connecting Seneca One and Canalside communities. This expansive facility promises to be a hub for pet owners and their furry friends, offering unparalleled opportunities for play, relaxation, and community engagement.
